I am a textile designer and handweaver creating contemporary homewares and textile art from my home studio in Belper, Derbyshire.

In a world that is increasingly disconnected from the way our belongings are made, I firmly believe in the importance of valuing and developing craft skill as the antidote. The studio centres around quality materials, slow making and local community.

I create bespoke fabric meterage, soft furnishing products and textile art pieces, as well as offer design development services to the textile industry. I also share my skills and ethos through local creative workshops.

I trained in Textile Design at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey, specialising in woven textiles. Shortly after graduating I was awarded the first artist in residency position at Derby’s Museum of Making, moving my practice to the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, where there is a rich industrial heritage. I began working in furniture manufacturing across several different brands, gaining valuable experience in textile buying, interiors and coordination in the British design industry.

After several years, I had a longing to return to the tactility of materials, process and my own slow making practice. I relish the challenge of creating on the loom, where pattern, colour and texture are all formed through intricate constructions. There are boundaries and parameters inherent in the process of weaving. I love slowly gaining the knowledge and skill to push what I thought possible and in the meditative process of setting up the loom and weaving, I find my mind creating the next piece and the next piece.
